We welcome new members to The Hereford Sailing Club.
New members may book Auburn Lass, our Dehler 39 foot yacht, for days, weekends or entire weeks as soon as they become members. To go sailing, they need to become, or take with them, a club approved skipper. They also must take a competent first mate.
In the summer of 2016 the boat was based near Oban in Scotland for the summer. In 2017 she was based in Plymouth for the summer with several weeks cruising being undertaken by members in Brittany. In 2018, Auburn Lass was based partly in Plymouth and partly in La Rochelle France. In spring and autumn the boat is normally based in Penarth and over-winters in Milford Haven.
It is the Club’s policy to provide members who wish to use the boat with a club skipper and a crew if necessary for any planned trip.
Members may also use qualified skippers from outside The Club providing they are approved by The Club committee, and become temporary members for the period of the booking. The costs of using Auburn Lass are usually shared between the people using the boat.
Most of the information you need will be available on our website: you might be particularly interested in the Club Rules, which set out in detail the purposes of the Club and members’ use of Auburn Lass.
To become a member of the Hereford Sailing Club, simply download and fill in a membership application form and email it to the HSC secretary.
Whether you have applied for membership or not, please do come along to one of our regular social gatherings to meet our club members.
